Production company announcements, development milestones, and the story behind Little Big Time Productions — from the stage to the screen.
Every announcement, milestone, and turning point — in the order they happened.
2017
The Stage
Jocelyn Parlee is approached by her community in Purcell's Cove, Halifax, to write, produce, and stage a live comedy event. The first production sells out entirely — driven by word of mouth alone. A company is born.
The production company's second original production, Screeched Lightning, sells out multiple dates almost immediately after announcement. No advertising. No marketing budget. Just a community that couldn't stop talking about what they'd seen.
Mrs. Purcell's Girls becomes the company's most beloved production to date — selling out multiple dates before traditional promotion could even begin. Touring plans and future growth are actively in development.
2020
The Silence
COVID-19 closes venues across Nova Scotia, halting Big Time Productions' momentum overnight. Touring plans are shelved. Future productions are suspended. But the silence that follows doesn't end the story — it transforms it. Jocelyn turns from the stage to the screen, and begins developing what will become Little Big Time Productions' inaugural film and television slate.
2026
The Screen
Little Big Time Productions formally establishes itself as an original content production company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia — built on the foundation of Big Time Productions' grassroots theatre legacy and Jocelyn Parlee's two decades of professional film and television experience.
The production company's inaugural development slate — L.I.E. (Part One of a romantic thriller trilogy written by J.K. Parlee), The Wreckhouse, Hollow Ground, Bloodline, and Dark Meridian — enters active development. Every project is written and produced entirely in-house.
Little Big Time Productions begins accepting inquiries from broadcasters, distributors, co-producers, and financiers. The production company is open to Canadian and international partnerships across all formats — feature film, TV series, mini-series, and docuseries.
